Coming to America...

dani149

Finally, that day has come. The direct flight Amsterdam - Atlanta by #Delta was really good. Although we were somewhat delayed due to the plane computer problems (not really reassuring when you are about to fly overseas :-/), we made it perfectly safe and well, constantly being served with different #food and #drinks. The crowd at the #immigration desks cleared rather soon. No problems with our #J1visa and #J2visa. #WelcometoAtlanta!

A challenge follows. One needs to find a #Groome transportation as to get to #Athens. It turns out it is located at the #DomesticTerminal. There is an airport shuttle operating to get you there. Although we have booked and paid a certain time slot for the #Groome shuttle to take us there, when we wanted to take it, the guy simply said he couldn't take us because he was overbooked. We can take another one that is supposedly coming at the time not previously scheduled. Somewhat distrustful (but what can you do?), we waited for another one, which really came and took us to the desired destination.

We first booked a private accommodation with Ms. Rosenthal (a very nice lady, recommending her and her house for your stays in #Athens) since the #UGAhousing wasn't available immediately. The agreement was to call her and she would come to pick us up at the shuttle stop. The call, however, was not possible to be established! Although we were prepared and willing to pay enormous price for a roaming Croatia-USA call, it just wasn't possible. The reason? Still haven't figured it out! Fortunately, her house was only about 900 m from the shuttle stop, so we walked. I know, you'll say "it's nothing" but having to walk with your 9-month baggage in the 35 degrees Celsius (95 Farenheit), it is not an easy task. Finally, we made it! And our first stop, Ms. Rosenthal's beautiful house was there, ready to host us. #CloverhurstAvenue, here we are!

161 West Cloverhurst Avenue, Athens, GA - our first accommodation

This porch will be very inspirational in the next two weeks of our stay in Athens.

Southern experience of working on the porch :)

And how about UGA? This is why I am here for, anyway...

This is the location of my office at the College of Environment + Design, UGA

This is where new ideas and new achievements in the coming period will be born... I will be researching Sensory Stimuli and Their Impact on Basic Emotions in the Experience Economy. In order to be able to use the UGA resources, such as a huge #UGALibrary, you must obtain the UGA card. It does go smoothly but slowly. I managed to get main in as long as 10 days.

Now, we are almost set to start the research. Relax, you'll be notified of any advancements. We still have 8.5 months to go. :)
